During a performance of her hit song "Starships" in Detroit, Nicki Minaj was nearly hit by an object thrown by a fan. In response, she angrily threw it back into the crowd before continuing her performance. Despite the incident, Minaj praised the Detroit audience for their energy and had positive remarks about the show.
There is a laundry list of entertainers that has had random objects thrown at them while on stage. The likes ofĀ Cardi B,Ā GloRillaĀ andĀ Ari LennoxĀ have also had issues with fans throwing things on stage.
GloRilla felt the wrath of an angry fan last year when a drink was hurled in her direction as she was leaving a venue.
Footage of the incident circulated online and showed GloRilla being escorted by a team of people as a woman threw a drink at her and began cursing the 23-year old rapper out.
Nicki Minaj's experience of having something thrown at her during a performance is not unique among rappers. Latto also faced a similar situation last year at Rolling Loud Germany when a fan threw something onstage during her performance.
It's a mystery to why a fan would pay to see a performance and then insult the artist.
